William PItt Lawrence was the surgeon of the 3rd regiment of the Tennessee militia, appointed by the Tennessee Governor Willie Blount.  He knew General Andrew Jackson.

The original is at the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville along with other Lawrence family papers, left there by one of William's children's descendants.
