John M. Stapleton

John M Stapleton was born in the month of November and the year 1828 in Lee County, Virginia to George and Marium Stapleton. He grew up and married there to Mary Koger. The marriage record of their union is not among the remaining records for that time period, but in 1859 she and he sold her right to her deceased father John Koger's land to John Chandler. They were both from old Virginia families.

Together they raised 12 children. Some stayed in Virginia, some went to Texas, others to Tennessee. After Mary died he went to live with their son Fate in Dickson County, Tennessee, where he died sometime between 1910 and 1920.
