I was born on the 3rd day of May in 1886 in the County of Lee, State of Virginia. Before I was all growed up my family moved to Hunt County, Texas where I met the love of my life Thela.  I stole her away from other boys and am so pleased she chose me to marry. And marry we did on the 26th day of 1909.  It was a glorious day for me in Hunt County, Texas.

We made our home in Greenville. I had a grocery store in Greenville, but I took time off for fishin'.  My in-laws loved to fish too.

In 1918 I dutifully registered for the draft for the War in Europe. It was toward the end of the war.  By then, Thela and I had two girls, we had another girl for a total of three girls, and then a son.  Jimmy was a football star in high school.  We were proud of all our children. They were all charmers and the house was filled with laughter.

I made a trip back to Virginia before I died.  I wanted the kids to see where I grew up.  It was a nostalgic trip for me. We had lived on land near the Powell River so that is where I had the kids take me.

I died in Greenville, where we had made our home and raised our family in 1975. The kids buried me next the Thela in Forest Park Cemetery.
