Henry Sword received a patent that was not surveyed and the land issued until after his death. He did settle on the land around 1775 and made improvements on it. The creek that he settled at the mouth of was named after him, Swords Creek. The patent was sold by his son Michael as his heir at law in 1781 and the buyer had the property surveyed by the Washington County Surveyor. . |
