Almeda Marcum

Almeda Marci, was born 18 May 1863 in Lee County, Virginia to James Marcum and Sallie Sword. It was during the United States Civil War. She didn't know how her mom kept it together during that time period.

She married John Stapleton in 1883. Their marriage Certificate has been passed down through the family within the family Bible (1,2). Their marriage was also recorded in the Lee County Virginia Marriage Records, that also included their parents names.

They left Lee County, Virginia where their families lived for generations and moved to Hunt County, Texas. There are pictures of theirdaughters Cora, Florence, our youngest son was Randolph, and two youngest daughters Myrtle and Pearl.

They had a family picture taken that included all of their grown children. John and Almeda are sitting in the front.

She died 09 March 1947 in Greenville, Texas. Her body laid to rest the final time in the Forest Park Cemetery there in Greenville.
