Shortly after their third child was born the family picked up and moved to Bastrop County, Texas. That is where she was during the horrible War between the states with two young children. Two more children arrived while they lived there after the war was over and James had come home. After their fifth child's birth they returned to McMinnville where her papa and step-mother lived. There she had three more children with James. The youngest Marion Lawrence being born in 1875. 21 years of having children! You'd have thought she was worn out, but it is James that died first in 1881 when Marion was not even six years old and left her to raise their children. Their oldest married a short time after his daddy's death and moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he lived out his life. Their only daughter married in 1885 and she, too, moved to Nashville. The rest of the surviving children and Mary Phila left Tennessee and moved to Dallas County, Texas. One son eventually moved to Lubbock County, Texas. She died 19 October 1912 in Dallas, Texas and was laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery there. |
