Martha Ann Rebecca Ward Camp was the first child of John Hamlin Camp and Dorothy Chamberlin Jones that survived to adulthood, marry, and have children. Her first marriage was to William Cannon Flournoy in 1828. They had 4 children together. He died when their youngest daughter Julia Flournoy was not even a year old. She managed with her mothers help to raishermy children until she met and married Andrew J Marchbanks in 1843. She died in the home of her daughter Julia and her family in 1875. Martha's grandson Flournoy Rivers (Julia's son) became a grand Tennessee lawyer and wrote family history articles for a newspaper that have been compiled in the "Flournoy Rivers' Manuscripts". She left a will in Warren County, Tennessee that left in the trust of her son William C. Flournoy, $1000 plus 1/3 interest in the growing on her place in Warren County, for her brother James. They were still taking care of him and his family! She left some things to my servants and the rest to her two surviving children Julia and William. |
